Bedford Fields Roundhouse
The first roundhouse Woodcraftian delivered with full responsibility for the full build process, from procurement to finishing, for the Bedford Fields Forest Garden in Leeds. Built using locally sourced larch poles and boards and with tampered hardcore foundations. Initial build was held as a volunteer build camp, with over a dozen volunteers involved throughout the project. Later funding was sourced to add a roof cowl to the inner ring and for the installation of benches in some bays, further funding will allow for creation of wattle wall panels in remaining open non-door bays.
The roundhouse became a haven during covid as a safe open sided covered structure for people to socialise under. Despite repeated attempts at vandalism the structure remains robust and strong and taken on some interesting local graffati. The space continues to be used for volunteer work days and hosting community events.
